2 Korintus 1:17

1:17 Therefore when I was planning to do this, I did not do so without thinking about what I was doing, did I? ¹  Or do I make my plans ²  according to mere human standards ³  so that I would be saying ⁴  both “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time?

2 Korintus 7:13

7:13 Therefore we have been encouraged. And in addition to our own encouragement, we rejoiced even more at the joy of Titus, because all of you have refreshed his spirit. ⁵ 

2 Korintus 10:5

10:5 and every arrogant obstacle ⁶  that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey ⁷  Christ.

[1:17]  ¹ tn The Greek construction anticipates a negative answer. This is indicated in the translation by the ‘tag’ question “did I?” at the end of the sentence.

[1:17]  ² tn Grk “the things that I plan, do I plan (them).”

[1:17]  ³ tn Grk “according to the flesh.”

[1:17]  ⁴ tn Grk “so that with me there should be.”

[7:13]  ⁵ tn Or “all of you have put his mind at ease.”

[10:5]  ⁶ tn The phrase “every arrogant obstacle” could be translated simply “all arrogance” (so L&N 88.207).

[10:5]  ⁷ tn Grk “to the obedience of Christ”; but since Χριστοῦ (Cristou) is clearly an objective genitive here, it is better to translate “to make it obey Christ.”
